Italian and Jew clash at district court session
Salvatore Stanzone was fined 38 and costs after a Wednesday district court session for assaulting Jacob Gilman. Gilman, urged by Italian supporters who offered to pay his expenses and give a gold piece if he dropped the case, decided not to press charges. The Italian defendant paid 3 and costs, and Gilman learned the promised money was not recoverable in court. Gilman still wore mourning around his eye from the earlier punch.
