Beach season ends with strong use and safety efforts
The Town Beach and Common play areas were repaired and expanded by ERA crews under Engineer John Bernard. Lifeguards, police, and Red Cross cooperation ensured safety through ten weeks from June 23 to September 8. About 185 checked bags, 25 000 visitors, 3 000 on peak Sundays, and 200 first aid treatments marked a busy season with notable life saving and parking receipts.
