George R Fish a Past Commander of Kearney Post No 6 has been named Boy Scout Officer for District No 2 of the Rhode Island American Legion. The district covers Newport Bristol River side East Providence with posts in those areas. Fish has 12 years as Bristol County District Boy Scouts commissioner and 23 years as a Scoutmaster, plus WW II service with the 65th Battery 23rd Anti aircraft Sector.

Bristol Boy Scouts of the First Troop ran an Information Booth and First Aid Station at Hope and Thames streets from 8am to dark. Four scouts answered visitors questions about town streets and event times, aided by an "Ask Me" sign and Red Cross placard. Over 35 out of town cars called for directions. no first aid cases occurred. The booth was sponsored by Awashonks Herd P O WS. Sylvia Wins Two Mile Handicap Race at Bristol Parade
Several hundred people gathered on Bristol common to witness the two mile handicap race as part of the parade celebration. John Sylvia, 16, a La Salle junior, took first place among eleven entries, with Fom Fitzpatrick, 17, a Cott Memorial High School junior, second and Henry Sylvia III, 14, a La Salle sophomore, third. The Sylvia brothers are sons of Reserve Police Officer Henry J. Sylvia Jr. Judges were Joseph Riccio John Flynn and Carmine J. Massano. Flynn served as starter and Riccio as timer.
