Reception to Commander Bertram Wall Honored by Rhode Island Legion

Department Commander Bertram W. Wall of the American Legion received a purse of gold at a Friday evening reception in Grand Army Hall. Judge Edward L. Leahy praised Wall for rebuilding Kearney Post No 6 and leading the Rhode Island Department with energy and diplomacy. The event drew nearly 300 attendees, including post auxiliaries and town officials, with cigars and musical numbers.

Armistice Day Celebration in Bristol Sets Three Day Program

Bristol plans a three day Armistice celebration November 10 to 12 marking the fifth anniversary of the signing. Events include a Hotel Belvedere band concert, free YMCA pictures, a banquet for American Legion groups with speaker William A Needham, sermons on November 11, and a big November 12 parade led by General L H Callan with a flag raising, chimes at Trinity Church, and a possible Shenandoah flyover en route from Newport to Providence.

Woman's Auxiliary plans sales dances and visits

At an evening meeting the Woman's Auxiliary voted to hold a Thanks giving sale and dance at Grand Army Hall on Monday afternoon and evening November 2 with sale from 430 to 730 and dance 8 to 1 Nora Dwyer elected chair of the committee Tags will be sold on November 10 National Forget-Me-Not Day for disabled veterans Mrs Hope Cote chosen committee chair The group will visit the Soldiers Home on Sunday November 18 with the post Helen A Condon elected Auxiliary committee chair A nominating committee to select officers for the year was formed Elizabeth Carr chaired the hospitalization committee and will visit Rhode Island Hospital on Tuesday November 20 to convey messages to disabled veterans.
