Bowling Committee Defers Y League Start at Meeting

The Y bowling committee met yesterday afternoon and decided to defer the opening of the Y League until more teams register. Openings remain for one team in class A and two in class B. Alleys repairs were authorized, prizes discussed at length, and individuals or organizations were urged to enter teams promptly.

Warren Opens Free Postal Delivery With New Post Office

Warren yesterday adopted free mail delivery as the new two story brick post office on Church Street began operations. Carriers Henry McMurray Emile Dubuc and John Krawcyzk route to renumbered houses from the landmark building while Postmaster John McPike receives thanks and a floral tribute. The facility features two hundred lock boxes and space on both floors for future postal business and offices.

Red Cross Plans Sixth Annual Roll Call Campaign

The Home Service Section of the Red Cross met Tuesday at the Federal Building Hope Street. Miss Madaleine W Wyatt presided as plans were made for the November 14 to 17 roll call. Mrs Jessie B Foley elected roll call campaign chairman, Mrs Walls E Howe publicity chair, Miss Julia A Herreshoff treasurer. Captains and workers across districts to be appointed this week. The goal is $1500.

Tax Collector reports town tax payments and poll tax turnout

Tax Collector Amos S. Gorham reports that by November 1 the town had paid 223,546.80 toward a 261,618.40 assessed tax. He notes 2,269 poll taxes have been paid with only 43 reminders sent and many reminders to exempt individuals proving unnecessary.
