Armistice Day Parade Plans In Meeting At Belvedere

At a meeting of the Armistice Day Committee held last evening in the Hotel Belvedere parlors a tentative parade lineup for the November 12 morning procession was set. An afternoon sports program was adopted featuring the First Division police chief marshal staff and several units including the Portuguese Independent Band Battery B 248th Heavy Artillery Bristol Train of Artillery the American Legion and its Woman's Auxiliary. The Second Division will include the Warren Legion Band and Boy and Girl Scouts.

Town Parade and Sports Events Outlined for November

The schedule details a march route from High and State through to the common and back, with divisions for Barrington Band and town officials. Sports include a three mile race a half mile race a 100 yd dash and several youth events on Hope street starting at 3 PM with prizes on display at Edward Kunz’s window and entry closes at 6 PM on November 10.

Bristol Community Service Looks to Expand Playground Facilities

The Bristol Community Service group met in the Council Chamber with Ruth Sherburne, field secretary of the Playground and Recreation Association of America, advising on Bristol plans. Committees on finance athletics and social activities were formed to expand playground facilities and related programs. The board convenes Thursday at 8 PM in the Comerch Chamber to act on the executive report.

Road Building on Thames Street Progress and Paving Dispute

Work on the Thames Street highway gospel shows large crushed stone spread and binder laid with two steam rollers at work from near Franklin Street to north of Cranston Mills. Paving blocks north of State Street sit two inches above rails. town and railroad seek level with rails or slightly below to avoid ice between blocks and rails. If unresolved it will be torn up and relaid to correct height.

St Elizabeth's Church to be interiorly decorated and organ installed

The Rambaudh Company of New York will begin interior decoration at St Elizabeth s Church within a week to ten days. The Austin Company of Hartford will install a new pipe organ to be completed before Easter. The 1913 building, dedicated in 1914, now serves about 2500 communicants under Pastor Rex Vieira who began in 1918.

Ladies' Committee Hosts Largest Attendance Yet

The Ladies' Committee was royally entertained by Mrs A M Merriman on Hope Street with over twenty women, marking the largest gathering in committee history. A social hour preceded a meeting to dispatch dummy calendars for canvassing quotes for a big holiday calendar, with plans to complete canvassing by November 10 and publish by December 1.
