Halloween Parties Invade Town With Costumes And Pranks

Ghosts and goblins appeared as children and adults celebrated Hallowe en across town. Gates were displaced in spots but police reported no damage or complaints. Byfield Byfield School eighth graders hosted a lantern lit party with games, cake, fruit and dancing, teachers praised. Other schools held parties with similar games and refreshments. St Michael s Girls Friendly Society held a 4 to 5 30 party in St Michael s Chapel with pumpkin nose pinning. Bache Private School and Trinity Church Sunday school added events with games and refreshments. Epworth League hosted a party with corn stalks leaves jack o lanterns and piano solos. Edward Anthony 70 years old led a Woodlawn avenue parade in a goblin band and danced a jig, drawing much attention.

Farewell Party For Albert Mycroft At Columbia Hall

Albert Mycroft president of the Jolly Boys Club who works in the National India Rubber Company box department was honored with a farewell party at Columbia Hall. About 200 friends attended as he prepares to move to Providence. Gifts included a handsome stick pin and gifts from shopmates. The event featured dancing games and vocal selections with a collation served. Mycroft made many friends during his eight months here.

Italian Garden Nears Completion At Misses Barns Home

Work on the new walk in front of the Misses Barns residence on Hope Street is nearly finished and expected to finish this week. Foundation includes coal ashes, concrete, and irregular stone flagging from New York State. A four inch lower block paved driveway conforms to the state road grade. Landscape plans by Sibley Smith of Narragansett Pier call for an Italian garden with six European linden trees, ivy, and swamp loam fill. Contractor L H Callan supervised the project as the Misses Barns are abroad.
