Bristol Seeks Support for New Shade Trees

In Bristol the fall in tree donations prompts appeals for residents to fund at least one or two saplings each. Tree Warden Samuel Kinder has planted about 100 young trees along Church and Hope streets and is transplanting on Hope north of Franklin, Oliver, and upper High Street. Rockland Night Delights Hydraulion Engine Crew

After a monthly meeting, Hydraulion Engine and Hose Co No 1 celebrated in Rockland Maine. A scallop supper prepared by Capt. Rawson followed a gift to John T Berry of the Americas Hook and Ladder. Members enjoyed vocal and piano numbers and recalled their Maine visit with many reminiscences.

Bristol Town Council Evening Session Review

The Bristol town council met Tuesday to discuss numerous items. A complaint against Constable Luigi Romano over a 1910 search was referred to the police committee while other motions covered tax remissions, repairs on a farm barn, a victualling license at 681 Hope Street, and tree removal on Hope Street. The sinking fund report showed a net debt of 195000 after 37000 retired. Gas main leaks on Hope Street prompted a request for company representatives to attend November 3 meetings. Jurors for U S Court were drawn and a canvass of voter lists adjusted. Albert G Earle of the Bristol County Gas & Electric Co. reported leak efforts and William J Munro was named election supervisor.

As a new interest quarter begins, depositors are urged to open or fund savings accounts now. Interest is compounded semi annually in February and August. Deposits received by November 15 will accrue interest from November 1 and earn a full quarter’s credit in February.
