Memorial Day Observed by Local Veterans Groups Parade Honored
Memorial Day was observed by Babbitt Post No 15 G A R and many groups including the American Legion the D A R the Sons of Veterans and Boy and Girl Scouts. The parade and ceremonies at the Burnside Memorial and North Cemetery drew hundreds with a full program led by William H Remieres and features Lincoln Gettysburg Address and wreaths for Unknown Dead. Automobiles carried town officials and participants as a firing squad decorated local graves at Rumper Hill St Marys and North Cemeteries JST

Drunkenness Arrest in Thames Street Area
Marceline Duarte Borges of the passing block Thames street was arrested Sunday afternoon and arraigned Sunday night before Justice of the Peace Philip Brady. Borges entered a not guilty plea to drunkenness and furnished $100 bail. The case was continued to the Fifth District Court.

Prize Speaking Contest at Colt Memorial High School
Edward Peterson won first prize in the declamation contest held Friday evening in the Colt Memorial High School auditorium under The Green and White staff. Memorial Sunday Services at Trinity Church
Memorial Sunday services were held at Trinity Church with Nieut Herbert F Bennett Camp No 8 Sons of Veterans Bristol Woman's Relief Corps No 19 Kishern Post No 6 American Legion and Auxiliary Bristol Train of Artillery Town Council members Bristol Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts attending. The procession left GA R headquarters at 715 for the service at 730 with Daughters of the American Revolution and Soldiers Home attendees present. Commandant Susan TM M Sheple and comrades joined, Rev Nelson Kellogg delivered The Power of Example, and The Star Spangled Banner closed the service.

Blaze Destroys Garage and Auto on East State Street
A two car garage owned by John Almeida at 22 East State Street and his automobile were destroyed by fire of unknown origin reported last night at 9 30. Three volunteer fire companies from the 23rd district battled the blaze. Almeida entered the burning structure to save his car and suffered severe burns to his right hand. He was treated by Dr. John R. Bernardo. The garage and car were uninsured.

Drunken driving arrest in Fall River man fined
William L Messier 35 of 44 St James Street Fall River was arrested by a State Trooper Sunday afternoon on Ferry Road and found intoxicated and unfit to drive. He was jailed and yesterday before Judge Frank H Hammill at Fifth District Court fined 200 dollars plus costs. warrant issued by Chief Richard J Kavanaugh.
