The steamer St Michaels chartered by Co Oliver Iselin arrived at Bristol Sunday at 1 o clock from New Rochelle New York. It will follow Columbia in all spins and races as Hattie Palmer did four years ago. The tender is capable of towing the large yacht and brought spars for Defender and Columbia. Ten of Columbias crew are aboard including Wm W Scott 2d mate Chas Scott quartermaster Rollins Staples Cyrus Thompson Alonzo Gross Leslie Jay Nathan Low Edward Greenlaw and Wm Haskell.

The Board of Engineers ordered forty five coats from National India Rubber Company for the fire department. Each of the five companies receives fifteen coats with regulation pattern and back initials in red representing the respective company.
