Pupils stage three act play Cosette at John Post Reynolds School

Portraits Presented to Rhode Island Soldiers Home

Poppy Day Drive By Bristol Auxiliary Members
The American Legion Auxiliary and workers will sell poppies Friday and Saturday May 25 and 26 in Bristol led by Mrs Hope Cote and assistants Miss Elizabeth Graham Miss Helen Condon and others. All flowers are made by disabled veterans in hospitals and proceeds aid hospitalized service members and their families. The campaign recalls Flanders poppies of 1917 18 and honors Col John McCrae poem.

Fourth of July Committee Plans Independence Day Events

Feast of Ecce Homo Joyfully Observed by Local Portuguese
Despite poor weather the Portuguese residents held a two day Ecce Homo celebration in town. Arches and electric lights lined Wood Street and St Elizabeth's Church hosted double band concerts by the Portuguese Independent Band and Fall River State Band. A parade from Columbia Hall, church services led by Rev Sebastian De Couto and Rev Francisco Vieira, fireworks, and a Sunday children’s procession accompanied by continued band concerts marked the event. The organizing committee included William Perry as chair and Manuel Corriera among others.
