Town Council Holds Observances and Approvals
The semi monthly meeting accepted Babbitt Post No 15 G A R invitation for Memorial Sunday and Memorial Day observances. It received nine appointments to the Fourth of July Committee and renewed several peddlers licenses. Milk licenses were approved, permits granted for sidewalk work and a gas pump installation, a barber pole permit referred, a sign approval pending, a Vierdalling license issued, and a $10,000 borrowing authorization for current expenses. The council tabled action on a Bradford Street extension and accepted the sinking fund report.

The Guiteras Memorial School auditorium was packed for a Bristol Concert Orchestra performance directed by Prof S A Giglio. Thirty members played pieces to the applause of music lovers for the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Soprano Palma Lombardo soloed with Mrs S A Giglio at the piano.

The American Legion Kearney Post No. 6 hosted Ladies Night at Legion headquarters on Hope Street after its business session. Guests were U L Auxiliary Kearney Unit No. 6 members. Dances by Ella Mae Lemaire and Magdalen Shaw, with Silver Moon Orchestra providing music and a refreshment committee led by Joseph Enos.

Special Town Meeting Authorizes Water Main Extension Plan
The Bristol Rhode Island town votes to extend a water main along Metacom Avenue to Bay View Avenue and beyond with a 1 650 000 gallon steel reservoir at Bay View Heights. It approves yearly payments of 7500 dollars for 20 years to Bristol and Warren Water Works and funds about a dozen fire hydrants. The meeting tabled stock sale of Colt High School and poor relief shares and set a committee to study Metacom Avenue expansion feasibility.
