Fourth Committee Hires Bands Sets July Schedule

The Fourth Committee hired Kingsmen Bugle and Drum Corps and Rangers Bugle and Drum Corps for the parade at 75 dollars each and authorized Norman Servarft to negotiate with the Portuguese Independent Band for a 178 dollar parade appearance. The three day observance runs July 2 reception for Navy officers and July 4 fireworks, with band concerts, giant parade, vaudeville, carnival bonfire, soapbox derby and Miss Fourth of July.

Unauthorized use of town anniversary seal reported to Chamber

Jeremiah W. Romang, executive secretary of the celebration committee, said a promoter copied the town seal and used it on match covers and stamps. He noted the Post Office would use a dye commemorating Bristol’s anniversary and that the original seal copy would be handed to the Bristol Historical Society for safekeeping.

The First Congregational Church held its 276th annual meeting in DeWolf Room reporting higher per capita donations to home and foreign missions, a new auditorium carpet and a parsonage in use. Rev Driftmier resigned to accept a Springfield pastorate as members approved officers, committees, and July to September Sunday services at 10 a.m.

Cubs and Clerk Honor Flag Ceremony at East Burial Ground

In a Wednesday ceremony at East Burial Ground Cub Pack 6 and town clerk presented flags for James M Flynn Jr and Andrew Meiggs. The Very Rev Msgr Charles H Lynch led 50 attendees including Cubs and adults as James Blym and family, James Mello and Stephen, presented the flags while Franke Almeida assisted. The ceremony upheld a Pack 4 project sponsored by 8G.
