Self Help Garden Plan Starts With 62 Prospective Gardeners

The program on King Philip Avenue provides 200 donated acres for winter food. Each family receives two 100 by 50 foot parcels with seeds fertilizer and tools. Participants must return ten percent of produce to the committee. Edward A Corner Jr leads the sponsoring group with support from clergymen and civic leaders and a $2500 relief grant.

Local Legion Posts Plan Dedicatory and Installations

Mrs Edith Cabot funds camp house dedication for Girl Scouts

Mrs Edith Thornton Cabot of Providence gives a new camp house at Camp Hoffman near West Kingston to the Girl Scouts of Rhode Island. The dedication on Sunday May 21 from 3 to 5 pm will feature colorful exercises and invites all interested in Girl Scouting to attend. Mrs Norton M Zinderstein can provide further information.

Twilight League Adopts Two Division Schedule and Ground Rule

The Board of Governors adopts a two division schedule for the Twilight League with 12 and 18 game formats and a possible three game championship. A new ground rule makes the runner advance at risk if the ball hits the backstop. Sealed bids for baseballs were reviewed and John Andrade’s 27 inning ball chosen.
