The hull of the Eddie B Blount, a retired quahog dredger and once coastal schooner, burned at Poppasquash Boatyard after an early morning fire started by an unknown person. Former yard owner Hans Langendoen had bought the hull from Blount Seafood Corp. decades ago. The vessel, about 100 feet long, was built as a two-masted schooner and later renamed Eddie B Blount. The blaze, impeding refloat, followed Hurricane Carol era dock damage. The story continues on page 8.
