Angevine and King Freed From Prison Camps
Two Bristol families learn their sons Lt. William H. Angevine Jr and Cpl. Clarence J. King have been liberated from German prison camps where they were held since February 1943. Both were reported missing in 1943 with Angevine later identified as North Africa prisoner of war. The town notes five Bristol men liberated so far with several others still unaccounted for.

Tribute to Pfc Pasquale Raiola Killed in Action
A Colt Memorial High School community mourns Pfc Pasquale C Raiola killed in action in Germany on April 27. The Bristol native, 20, was a standout athlete and loyal friend who served after 1941 enlistment, trained at Camp Hahn and Fort Bragg, and wrote to his father the day before his death. He leaves his parents, brother Domenic, sister Carmille, and parish ties with Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

Carl H. Witherell is named manager and secretary of the board effective June 1, 1945. Childs, longtime Bristol official, serves on local boards and clubs. Witherell, Bristol Branch veteran, chairs the 7th War Loan committee.

Michael Ruggieri a cook second class in the U S Navy and son of Mr and Mrs John Ruggieri of 495 Wood street Was wounded in action in the Pacific on March 20 The wounds were in the leg and thigh from shell fragments He telephoned from California to say he expects to fly home at month end He has been in the Navy two and a half years and in the Pacific for 17 months.

Liberation Letter: Mother Marie Augustus Recounts Los Banos Escape
