Col Colt to Manage Bristol Water Works Franchise
After a lengthy town meeting voters rescinded the 1895 Bristol water purchase, adopting a committee report giving Col Samuel P. Colt a 50 year franchise to supply filtered water with a new plant by July 1 1908. The meeting also approved improvements to Asylum Lane and a $500 sewer in Washington Street while debating water rates and future ownership. Col Colt addressed concerns, promising equitable rates, possible meters, and pursuing end to ongoing litigation.
