The local Port uguese society marks its tenth anniversary with 9 am gathering at Wilson's lane headquarters, a parade to St Mary's Church, led by 50 white-clad girls with flowers, and a special high mass at 10 am conducted by a Portuguese priest from New Bedford. Afterward the Silver crown will be blessed and carried to the society hall for refreshments and speeches. Guests are expected from several nearby towns. The 65 month old society lists Manuel Morris as president and officers including Frank Joseph Azevedo, Joseph R. Mello, and Joseph Silvia.

Transfers of Town Water Works and Asylum Road Deed
The town treasurers George H. Peck and Charles H. Manchester signed and the action was approved at a Monday evening meeting transferring water works rights to the new plant owner with notary acknowledgment. Peck also signed a quit claim deed granting Asylum Road to Col. Samuel P. Colt with provisos that Colt macadam and fence the road, keep it in repair for five years, and keep the private road open for public use for five years from May 15, 1907.

Four Local Youths arraigned in district court on train disturbance
In district court this morning four well known local young men were arraigned after a disturbance on a New York Ontario and Western railroad train that arrived Monday night. George Salisbury James Salisbury Fred Shepard and Floyd Heustis were charged. Salisbury brothers and Shepard faced assault charges on ticket taker Walter H. Scott while Heustis was charged with obstructing the train and extinguishing lights. The first three pled not guilty and Heustis pled guilty. Bonds set at 200 each for next Monday’s appearance. John Shepard and M A Cheesmar acted as sureties.

School Committee Weighs District School Continuation and Discontinuation
The School Committee met Wednesday evening with members Arnold Brady Galvin Shepard Trotter Williams. It unanimously recommended continuing the northeast district school and closing the Bristol Neck middle district school in June 1907 with students reassigned in September. A northeast residents’ petition to keep the school was noted. Grants included summer use of Franklin street school, algebra text for ninth grade, a Col French lecture, and cost study for telekanay links. Graduation of the class of 07 planned for June 19. $25 appropriation for exercises. State apportionment totals cited and bills totaling $2706.81 approved for payment.
