Castle Island Beacon to Get Acetylene Light in 1927

The Castle Island beacon in Bristol Harbor will receive an acetylene light this season after a favorable Bureau of Lighthouses reply. The 1824 stone beacon, built by Nehemiah Cole, was designed to stand 24 feet high with a 12 by 6 foot base and to be whitewashed.

Rand Wardex Co plans land record index install

The Rand Wardex Company of Boston installs a land record index system at the Town Clerk's office. Taxpayers allocate 6650 dollars for the project. Three Boston women supervise. local women assist part time. Completion expected in at least two months.

Red Cross flood relief efforts near Bristol progress

Local American Red Cross Bristol Branch reports over 870 dollars raised for flood victims with a tentative 1000 dollar quota. Donations continue at the Red Cross Rooms in the post office on Tuesdays to Thursdays 1 to 6 pm. Benefactors include Miss Nelson, Mrs Mayo, Sunbeam Club, Inv Guild of St Michael's Parish, and several individuals.

Merchants Plan Independence Day Trades Procession

A Fourth of July sub committee proposes a trades procession for Independence Day with local merchants promised full support. Samuel Molasky chairs the meeting in Town Hall with James Head as secretary and Frank J Sylvia as treasurer. The parade will feature three divisions: local merchants, national products, and automobiles, with 20 plus merchants already signaling entries.

Rose of Tokio Planned for Pastime Theatre Nights

Bristol Council Knights of Columbus discussed presenting the musical comedy Rose of Tokio at the Pastime Theatre on June 1 and 2. Direction by Rogers Producing Co. Fifty costumed performers, twenty three children in songs and dances, and a cast including Miss M Theresa Sullivan Nora Dwyer Bessie Pierce James Pierce John Callanan Vincent Malafronte Daniel Dwyer Charles Serbst Albert Pierce Miss Eileen Moore Frances Connell Joseph McGrath William Flanagan. Benefit Entertainment at Pastime Theatre for Red Cross Relief

Next Sunday afternoon May 15 at 2 30 a benefit program at the Pastime Theatre by manager Alonzo Vail and staff to aid flood sufferers in southern states. Two feature pictures and shorts, proceeds to the local fund. An evening show at 7 30 continues the benefit with another two features and a full change of pictures for a focal organization fund.

Girl Struck By Auto Near Bradford Street

Ermina Romano six years old daughter of Mr and Mrs Paul Romano 154 Bradford street was hit by a truck driven by Anthony Frederica 495 Wood street near her home at 6 PM Wednesday. Frederica rushed her to Dr Harold DeWolf for a minor scalp cut and said the child darted into the path of his vehicle. he swerved onto the sidewalk in a bid to avoid the impact.
