Odd Fellows 109th Anniversary Observed by Three Lodges
The Independent Order of Odd Fellows marked its 109th anniversary with exercises at Odd Fellows Hall by United Brothers Lodge No. 13 Watmpanoag Encampment No. 9 and Reba Rebekah Degree Lodge No. 12. Past Grand Master Ellis A. Cranston chief of Warwick police gave an address on the order’s founding and achievements, with Miss Anna Brelsford speaking on its principles.

Site Selected For New Bristol Fire Station Near Hope Street
The Defiance Hose Company selects the south part of town land at the southeasterly corner of Hope Street and Gooding Avenue for a modern two story brick fire station. The planned building includes an apparatus room recreation room assembly hall and kitchen with basement hose drying steam heating and a kitchen. An architect will prepare plans and the town has $20 000 approved to acquire the site and build equip and furnish the station.

Ten students five boys and five girls from Colt Memorial High School will compete in a June 1 speaking contest in the school audi torium. Elimination results announced by Principal P W Lane list Milton Bassing Raymond Makowsky Frederick Brownell Paul Clark Henry Mason and Misses Hattie Manley Emma Slinger Isabel Anderson Margaret Cicerchin and Fredericka Dunbar as eligible contestants. Judging panel includes Perle W Lane and Muss Sadie C Callan. Prizes award $10 for first and $5 for second to each winner with $20 from the school publication and the rest from Judge A A Capostroto’s 1926 bequest.
