Prohibition Agents Seize Alcohol At Garcia Farm Arrests Made
Federal prohibition agents visited Frank Garcia’s farm on Metacom Avenue and seized a large quantity of alcohol and an automobile. Four men were involved in the seizure and arrests, including Bento Corea of 13 Webster Avenue Fall River and Antonio Lopes of Market Street Newport. An accompanying bakery truck with two men was parked on the yard. the truck’s occupants identified as Corea and Lopes.

District Court Docket Includes Assault and Nuisance Cases
Judge F H Hammill presided at a Fifth District Court session with numerous cases. Henry Cotta, Joseph Rodrigues, and Manuel Rodrigues faced assault charges and were continued to May 28. Mary C Silvia alleged as part of the incident at 106 Thames street. James Hanley faced a nuisance charge at the Bristol Hotel on State street. Herman Pierce pleaded guilty to being disorderly and was deferred for sentence with relocation terms. Frank Fortin was fined for intoxication on Hope street. Manuel Cambra and Domenic Formisano also faced traffic and assault charges with fines. A special session saw John Andrade plead guilty to stealing tires from Harbor Master Wardwell. Juvenile Court handled shopbreaking and larceny with two youths sent to Lockanosset School and one placed on probation.

The Twilight League kicks off the season next Monday at Bristol Common with officials in attendance. At a board meeting Edward D Kunz resigned. James B Lee named official scorer and Peter Gutowski umpire. Five teams filed rosters and a three week schedule across May and June was adopted.
