Private Frank W. Ferraro of the ABS Co 162d Infantry United States Army was killed in France on April 20. A Bristol native who worked as a shoemaker before enlisting in Middletown, he listed his age as 18 though he was 16. He leaves his parents Joseph and Bridget Ferraro and nine siblings.

Tragic Accident Claims 26-Month-Old Gorham Child
Philip Buffington Gorham the 26 month old son of Priv Isaac W Gorham Battery A U S Field Artillery in France died after a toy balloon led him to a hot water tub at 183 Wood Street. He was pulled from the tub but succumbed five hours later at Rhode Island Hospital. Funeral held at 11 am from 183 Wood Street with Rev O H Wallace officiating. Burial at Knotty Oak Cemetery beside his mother. The family receives community sympathy.

Bristol Boy Honored With French War Cross
Lieut. Franklyn H. Springer son of Mr and Mrs John C Springer of Burton street earned the Croix de Guerre for gallantry. He serves in Company B 165th Infantry U S A and has been in France since October. Springer, a Colt Memorial High School 1914 graduate and former Rhode Island State College student, left training to join Plattsburg and later Camp Devens before overseas service. His family details include his father a railroad agent and his sister Dorothy a normal school student. a brother Rowse enlisted in the Rhode Island Naval Reserve last May.
