Mrs Harnet M. F Dixon arrived home Friday after ten days in Washington DC. She attended National Society Daughters of 1812 events and presented a hand painted Rhode Island flag from the Rhode Island Society to the National Society. She also marked the dedication of the society's new headquarters on Rhode Island Avenue and spoke on Rhode Island’s role in the War of 1812 and the brig Yankee from her hometown.

Firemen and guests packed the State Armory on Friday for the Bristol four company fire department ball the fourth annual event. Providence Chief Engineer Frank Charlesworth led the grand march with Mrs Raymond S Brightman as guest, while Bud Thomas Roseland Orchestra provided music. A Providence first aid exhibition drew applause and proceeds go to charitable uses.

Bristol Lions Club members announced a mid summer charity ball at the State Armory on July 31 to raise funds for a crippled children clinic in this town. George H Baldwin received a gold key from Lions International confirming appreciation of his work. Daniel A Rose presented the token and spoke at the meeting. Bowling competitions between Bristol and Newport Lions are set for next Tuesday night in Newport.
