Plans for the Bristol County Junior Chamber of Commerce Teen-Age Road-E-O are complete with written tests by Bristol Warren and Barrington High Schools and a driving skill contest in Bristol on Saturday May 19. Local winners advance to state finals and three national winners share a 3000 dollar scholarship. Richard A. Moren chairs the local committee. The Feast of Santo Christo will be celebrated by St Elizabeths Church parishioners with a 6 PM procession from the parish hall along Monroe Avenue Lincoln Avenue High Street Franklin Wood Street to the school auditorium for a statue blessing and sermon. A Portuguese Independent Band and St Anthony’s Band of Fall River will perform until 4 PM followed by a solemn Mass at 11 AM Sunday and additional processions and concerts through the day. The statue will be carried by listed parish members and a benediction of the Blessed Sacrament will conclude the main events.

Eisenstadt's Wins YMCA Volleyball Tourney
Eisenstadt's won the annual YMCA volleyball tournament last night at the Y by defeating Cs D Engineers Corps 118 in three straight games. The squad, led by coach Herb Eisenstadt, included Benstead, Joe Pip Sercuro, Carraturo, Vin Securo, Tony Medeiros, Jimmy Celone, and Johnny Freitas. Carraturo and Vin Securo were outstanding spikers. They had defeated Circe Jacques Cartier of Warren on Monday night, with other teams including National Guard of Bristol and T.W.U. No. 1348, Collins & Aikman. Trophies were presented by physical director Hector Masa.

Land For Reserve Center Is Acquired
Acquisition of town owned land on Asylum Road for a 200 man Army Reserve Center was announced by the Department of the Army via Senator Pastore. The 0.3 acre site fronts Asylum Road and NYNH&HRR tracks, valued about 7700 dollars, to be acquired by negotiation or condemnation. Construction is slated for the first quarter of fiscal year 1957, with the project approved by Army Reserve and ROTC officials. The armory will serve county reserve units and is not connected to the R I National Guard Armory in Providence.
