Postmaster Appointed for Warren by President Wilson

Reception for Rhode Island Woman's Relief Corps President
Mrs Elizabeth Gladding the newly elected Department President of the Rhode Island Woman's Relief Corps received a formal reception Friday evening at G A R Hall. A large crowd from patriotic groups attended as Dick Tobin Relief Corps, Babbitt Woman's Relief Corps and others offered congratulations and a gilt mounted gavel was presented by Mrs Alfred Ili on behalf of Babbitt WRC. Speeches followed with a musical program by Kinders orchestra and refreshments served.

First Division Rhode Island Naval Battalion Inspected
The First Division Rhode Island Naval Battalion was inspected Friday evening at the Naval Reserves Armory. Lieut. John H. Everson Jr. led the inspection with Adjutant General Charles W. Abbott Jr. and Quartermaster General Charles T. Glines present. Books, papers and records were checked, then marching movements, manual of arms, battalion drill, skirmish drill, bayonet exercises and signaling were demonstrated.

Child severely injured at National Indigo Rubber plant
Joseph Almeda of Warren, about two, was injured Saturday in the calendar department of the National India Rubber Company. His left hand was caught in heavy steel rolls, three fingers mangled and later amputated at Rhode Island Hospital after temporary dressing by Dr. O R Siegel. The thumb and forefinger were spared.

The Warren Gazette reports persistent town rumors that Samuel P Colt of the National India Rubber Company Bristol leased the new mill on Franklin street to expand as a Bristol plant branch. Vice President LeBaron Colt denied the claim, saying there is nothing in it at all.
