North Point Farm in Poppasquash sees major improvements including a new seven foot gravel boulevard, mauzan cottage add ons, relocated marble urns and statuary, and a grand barn costing over 100000 dollars. The barn will house Percheon draft horses bred from New York stock and Jersey cattle, with Mare and Stallion prizes noted.

The Modern Prodigal at State Street Church Vestry

A three act divine drama The Modern Prodigal drew a good size crowd at State Street M E Church vestry last evening. The Wonder Willing Workers presented a large cast headed by Father Oliver Blaisdell and Ruth the Angel with Miss Caroline Starkey as Cousin Kate and Fred Palmer as The Prodigal Son. Between acts music by local students and a reading complemented the program. Refreshments followed.

Obituary Mrs Annie Hoar Widow Of Local Resident Dies

Mrs Annie Hoar 68 widow of Frank L Hoar and sister of ex Governor William L Douglass died at Rhode Island Hospital from pleurisy ending in pneumonia. Born in Plymouth Massachusetts she lived here many years. Her husband is deceased and she leaves two daughters Mrs William McKay of this town and Mrs Ida Servant of Pawtucket plus four grandchildren. The body will be brought here this afternoon.

Successful Minstrel Show At Pastime Theatre

Dreadnaught Hook Ladder and Hose Company presented a Tuesday evening minstrel and vaudeville at the Pastime Theatre to a large audience. The program featured Miss Kennelly, Robert Wilson, Jack Healey, Brennan dancing, Misses Ryan and McMillan singing, and an extensive cast with Miss Rose Farley and Mrs. G Feathers among others. The Crown orchestra provided music, and stage decorations plus colorful end men costumes highlighted the lively performance.

Successful Concert by Colt Memorial High School Glee Club

The Colt Memorial High School Glee Club gave its first public concert in the school auditorium before a good sized audience. The program featured choruses, quartets, and solos with solid training under director Miss Emma L Wardell. It included pieces by Verdi Wagner Barnby and others with performances by soloists Miss Frances Crowley and Mr. W C Gardiner among the performers.

Thief Tries Gas Meter Robbery Sparks Explosion

A late Monday attempt to steal 25 cents from a Fortis restaurant gas meter ended with a screwdriver breach of a gas pipe and an explosion after a match was lit. The thief fled through a rear window, leaving fabric and clothing snagged on a nail. police have yet to identify the suspect.
