Bristol Man Admits Murder Tied to New York Case

Joseph P. Caroselli twenty five of 37 Bourne Street Bristol has admitted taking part in the murder of Sam Chiccola of Port Washington L I shot during a holdup on Nov 30 1939 Two other persons are involved He also admitted taking part in six other Queens County stickups He waived extradi tion rights yesterday and returned to New York to face murder and robbery charges Caroselli married a Bristol girl Louise Carlone and lived with her parents on Bourne Street The raid that led to his arrest was conducted by state police assisted by Rhode Island officers and he was taken to New York yesterday for charges

St Michael's Church elects Wallis Howe senior warden

Cancer Control Drive Starts In Bristol For April Fund

Plans announced for the annual Cancer Prevention drive led by the Women’s Field Army. The Bristol team, chaired by Mrs John W Haley last year and Bristol County chair this year, aims to surpass last year’s success with a $51500 total. Mrs Carl W Haffenreffer will captain Bristol’s team again and asks donors to send checks to Ferry Road Bristol RI.

Spring bonnet contest tied to whist event in Bristol County

Bristol County Parent-Teacher Association schedules a April 2 meeting at Barrington Town Hall featuring a spring bonnet contest with prizes donated by area manufacturers. The program includes contract bridge tables, tea, and a planning committee led by Mrs James McKenna, Mrs Lucien Capone, Mrs Anna Doyle, Mrs Michael Cariglia, Mrs Reeve Harper, and Mrs Joseph Comstock.

Hundreds Dance Boosts Bristol Rotary Scholarship Fund

About 300 people attended the Bristol Casino event to raise money for the Bristol Rotary Club scholarship fund. Attendees included Brig Gen John F Collins and local officials. the night featured dancing to a Providence orchestra and a floor show by a Providence troupe. The club awards $100 yearly to a senior high graduate pursuing further education based on academics and need.

Former Bristol Man Killed in Warren Auto Crash

Arnold L. Carroll Jr. 29, of Market Street Warren, formerly of Bristol, died after a car he borrowed skidded on Child Street hit a hydrant and overturned three times. Passenger Lucian Jovin suffered hip bruises and possible pelvic fracture. Carroll left a wife Doris Cornell and three children. Funeral plans incomplete.
