Namauit Mill Engineer Harry Peterson Retires After 63 Years

Henry W. Peterson 81 retires as Namauit Mill engineer after 63 years with four owners. He began in 1878 at age 19 in the carding room, later led the steam engine, helped systems shift to electricity, and served Bristol in town government and community groups. Farewell dinner at Hotel Warren honors him with Collins and Aikman executives in attendance.

Morrow Promoted to Peoria Water Works Manager

G Gus Morrow, after less than a year as Citizens Water Co manager, is transferred to lead Peoria Water Works in Illinois, assuming duties April 15. Thomas G Braman will become successor here. Morrow, a Bowdoin graduate and former World War II field artillery officer, has been active in the community and will move with his wife to Peoria.

GOP Candidates Seek Aid to Dependent Children Director

Several Republican candidates seek the appointment of the director of Aid to Dependent Children as the Town Council plans to fill the post at Tuesday night’s meeting. The current Democrat appointee is Mrs. Mary J Dennis, wife of former Councilman Joseph J Dennis, with her term ending March 24. Also slated are renewals for town solicitor Joseph A. Hammill and other posts including town sergeant health officer and milk inspector.

Bristol Woman Dies After Wrong Medicine Given

Miss Catherine Callan 42 of 380 High Street Bristol died after oil of wintergreen was given internally instead of externally. Nurse Bertha Arronan suspended and hospital investigating. Fire Truck Group Holds First Meeting

The committee appointed at the financial town meeting to acquire new firefighting equipment met at the Dreadnaught Hook and Ladder Station. Fred Guevremont was named chairman with Frank J. Hobson Discusses Problems of Youth at Rotary Meeting

Secretary Earl H. Hobson told the Rotary Club at the YMCA that unemployed youth face loss of self reliance and disillusionment. He cited cases from night shifts disrupting social life and schooling, praising the National Youth Administration as a plan to keep youths in school longer and urging community support for welfare efforts.
