The Bristol Senior High School staged Tulip Time in Colt Auditorium at 8 pm with Mrs Donovan directing the music by the Bristol High Band. Cast included Joseph Arruda, Mary Lou Serbst, Anne Bruno, Christina, Joseph Ferreira, Hendrick Van Ooster, and many others. Programs listed specialty groups, stage management, and design credits amid a sold out run with another showing tonight and a final public performance tomorrow night.

Nylon Salesman Fleeces Women With Down Payments

Police Chief Ferrara reports several women east of High street were fleeced by a charming nylon hose salesman who took down payments promising delivery within three days. One woman paid $42 for assorted goods and samples. others paid as little as $5 for ten pair. He offered discounts or extra shirts as inducement and planned to collect the balance on delivery. Authorities urge residents to report any door to door sales attempts promptly.

Veterans Committee Report on 1945 46 Service to Veterans

Bertram W Wall reports to Chairman James E Sullivan on the Veterans Retraining and Reemployment Committee activities for the year ending Feb 28 1946 noting 475 veterans aided. The program highlights PortaGraph copies of discharges and certificates, 305 veterans served, 475 interviews, and 305 total veterans helped with varied referrals and assistance.

Carlson Named Recreation Board Nominee to Fill Hill Seat

The Recreation Board recommended Carl T Carlson to fill the vacancy left by Hubert F Hill who is leaving to become Wakefield YMCA general secretary. The Town Council must approve the nomination. Annual budget plans allocate about 700 dollars for salaries and equipment, plus 200 to 300 for special services such as pond cleaning and winter snow and skating season needs.

Bristol Council Eyes Monthly Highway Dept Reports

Councilmen urge the Highway Department to provide monthly detailed work reports and future plans. Weather remains a factor in road projects and a flexible schedule is encouraged. A monthly cleanup week is set for the second week, and an incinerator study by the dump committee proceeds. Quonset huts eyed for Springfield housing plan

Springfield Mayor Brunton unveils a test model four room steel Quonset shelter in City Hall Square to address emergency housing for veterans and homeless civilians. He envisions mass production to meet demand with rental at 35 a month including utilities and notes heating via a radiant system. Local business supporters back the plan amid opposition claiming cost waste.
