Bristol Town Meeting Approves 345000 Tax Funds

Bristol taxpayers packed the Reynolds School for the annual town meeting and approved a tax rate rise to the legal limit of 250. Proposals covered 23 budget items with only two cut, and overall appropriations reached about 344 704.52 dollars with 5 000 kept in reserve.

Theatre Group Scores Hit In Blithe Spirit

The Bristol Community Theatre Group staged Blithe Spirit by Noel Coward in the Guiteras Memorial Auditorium. Backdraft Flames Burn Man At Cal's Filling Station

Richard E Rensehausen of 70 Oliver Street was burned in both eyes when a backdraft in the steam heating system at Cal's Filling Station at the corner of Hope and Thames streets flared out and struck his face. Dr. Samuel D Clark ordered him taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment and he was to visit an eye specialist today for further examination.

Physical Program Underway For All Groups

The Viking Club season is finished and the YMCA gym floor is free allowing an uninterrupted physical education program for all groups. Tony Agatiello says YMCA physical education director oversees daily after school classes for grammar and junior high boys with HI Y club on Wednesdays and Business Men's Group on Thursdays. Playoff basketball games for junior high Cracker League and Grammar School Nut League occur on Saturday mornings and Wednesday afternoons respectively.

Grass fires keep local fire crew busy on Buttonwood street

A general alarm at 1130 sent the Buttonwood street fire companies to a grass fire south of Carr Manufacturing Corp. Fire crews fought a weekend spree of grass fires with no major damage so far. Fire Chief Moses Moore warns residents to be careful when burning grass as conditions are dry.
