Retailers Attack OPA Camouflaged Inflation in Congress Exhibit
The National Retail Dry Goods Association demonstrated to Congress how OPA policies inflate costs by keeping prices on better goods while raising ceilings on inferior items. They urged amendments to the Price Control Act to boost production of affordable high quality goods, citing examples like women’s slips and cheaper shorts with contrasting OPA prices. The exhibit included over 100 items including heaters, contrasting high and low quality items to illustrate the claimed inflation camouflage.
