Colt Players Commended for Exemplary Conduct

Lobster Pot Closed Through April 2 Due to Ice

The Lobster Pot will be closed until April 2 as Maine and Nova Scotia lobster stocks are frozen and imports from Boston are limited. Owner Charles DeW. Brownell notes the 1941 price ceiling worsens profits and Rhode Island season opens April 1. He cites a 1929 precedent for such a shutdown and reports scarce supply and high costs. Separately, the Our Lady of Mount Carmel School fund gains two new $100 gifts, raising the total to $14,250 from Mr and Mrs Fortunato Squatrino and Mrs Antonetta Cirillo.

Physical Education For Men At Local YMCA Starts Thursday

Beginning this Thursday evening at 6 30 pm and continuing weekly, an Old Timers or Business Men's physical education program will be held at the local YMCA. Director Anthony Agatiello says workouts will be light with emphasis on recreational games like volleyball basketball and indoor baseball.

Organist Installed by Mount Hope Chapter

Mrs Dorothy Megathlin was installed as organist of the Mount Hope Chapter Order of Eastern Star at a meeting in the Masonic Temple. Entertainment was by Mrs Buell N Buckingham Jr and Past Patron Gordon Brown who also served as installing officer. Refreshments were served by Mrs Sarah Booth Mrs Judy Booth Miss Sarah Bosworth and Miss E Doris Bullock.

Engagement Announced for Mary Garcia and Nicholas Mascagna

The engagement of Miss Mary Garcia daughter of Mr and Mrs Frank Garcia of 15 Easterbrooks Avenue to Nicholas P Mascagna of Derby Connecticut has been announced by Miss Garcia's parents. She is a Bristol Senior High School graduate class of 1942. Mascagna is a graduate of the Junior College of Physical Therapy of Connecticut.

Ash Wednesday Services and Ash Distribution Across Local Churches

Ash Wednesday services list Mass times and ashes distribution at St Marys, Trinity, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, St Michaels, and local schools with 2 and 3:30 pm ash offerings for children. Benevolent Society Meets at Holmes House in Lawrence

The Benevolent Society of St Michael's Church met yesterday in Holmes House with Lawrence C Cole, administrator of the Children's Division of the Department of Child Welfare, as speaker. It was announced Mrs Wes ley A Armstrong will attend World Day of Prayer March 8 at White Church Barrington. An all day service is planned at Holmes House March 18 from 10 to 4. A Camp Hoffman Fund and Rehabilitation Fund contribution was voted. Hostesses were Mrs Frank A Rounds Mrs William Wood Mrs Joseph S Wood Mrs John H Wall and the Misses Ellen and Mary Wood.

Bristol Aerie seeks property on State Street for new home

The Bristol Aerie Fraternal Order of Eagles negotiates to buy the lower State Street property owned by Leonardo Digati now housing the Bristol Social Club. The club will move to the second floor after purchase and renovations are planned. The drive to recruit members is active with 32 new applications.

Seaman Joseph S. Martin Serves Aboard USS Bennington

Joseph S Martin Jr 19 seaman first class USNR of 171 Hope Avenue took part in ceremonies aboard the USS Bennington at Pearl Harbor where Admiral Towers relieved Admiral Appruance as Commander in Chief U S Pacific Fleet early in February The Bennington as part of Task Forces 38 and 58 joined carrier strikes on Tokyo Bay and air sea assaults against Japan Iwo Jima and Okinawa.
