Bristol plans a sprawling Fourth of July celebration with at least 13 divisions, led by chief marshal Dr. William L. Serbst and chief of staff Ralph F. Kinder. Camp Massasoit to Open for Boys on July 6
Bristol Y M C A sponsors Camp Massasoit for local boys lacking camping options. Located at Mt Hope Bay on Dr Frederick V Martins Martin Hall site, the five week program runs July 6 to August 6 with daily hikes and supervised outdoor activities. Fees are 1 dollar for members and 2 dollars for non members, lunch included.

Volunteers to Run Bristol Recreation Program
A supervised recreation program for Bristol’s two main playgrounds will begin Monday July 6 with 10 volunteer supervisors led by Hubert F. Hill of the Y M C A Board of Recreation. The weekly schedule runs Monday through Friday from 9 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 5 pm at the Common and Rockwell Park, coordinating with Reynolds School hot lunch. Activities include health and eating education, story telling, contests, and special weekly events for children aged 14 to 16. Girl Scout Mariners may assist.
