Bristol Fourth of July Celebration Parade and Activities

Bristol hosts a large 1940s style Fourth of July with a 13 division parade 26 bands and numerous civic and military units from the 45th Division 243rd Coast Artillery and Newport Naval Station. Governor McGrath U S Senator Forand and General Dawley attend along with Red Cross Civil Defense and Scouts. The day includes a field meet on the Common a trapeze act a ball game and a flag presentation by Congressman Forand plus concerts and a night carnival.

Ration Board Members Increased in Bristol

Captain Paul A. Herzig is named to the War Price and Rationing Board of Bristol with Elmer E. Angell, Robert M. Nelson, Ralph F. Kinder, Salvador Nunes, Guiseppe R. Perroni, James J. Walsh, Prescott B. Paull and Robert B. Suzman. The board may split into four panels covering sugar and foods, fuels and gasoline, tires and typewriters, and price control. First meeting set for Monday evening. Purchase permits were granted to Arnoff Shoe Co and Joseph Andrade for a typewriter and to John Jo Dennis for tires and tubes.
