Kearney Post to Celebrate 40 Years Tomorrow
The 40th anniversary of Kearney Post begins with a night of ceremonies at the American Legion on Franklin Street. Department Commander John J. Sylvia will speak, with Ralph Lavers as master of ceremonies and Delbert W. Tildesley delivering the invocation. The program includes flag ceremonies, a roll call of guests, and awards to a 40-year member. The post, founded June 16, 1919, honors William Hirst Kearney, who perished on the destroyer Jacob Jones.

Chief Ferrara Celebrates 25 Years As Bristol Police Chief
Police Chief Anthony J. Ferrara, 61, marks 25 years in office in Bristol. He joined the force in 1925 after earlier service as captain and long tenure on the beat. He recalls bands he played with and notes changes in parental attitudes and rising auto registrations since the early 1940s.

Sanitarian Post To Bar Owner Amid Health Debate
Nicholas Mancieri, ex Navy pharmacist mate and owner of Jack's Tap, was named Sanitarian for one year at a special town council meeting. He will be paid 3500 starting July 1. challenger Charles Raiola, backed by Dr C Paul Bruno, lost 3-2. Council approved changes to the health ordinance and delayed the minimum standards section. Dr Bruno condemned the process as a circus and urged more meetings and state involvement.

Town Meeting Set For Monday Night
The Board of Canvassers prepared for a special town meeting next Monday evening to approve using land on High St currently occupied by the Byfield School. St Mary's Church offered to buy the building for $600. The list of 5,009 legal voters was approved with 2,230 from district one and 2,279 from district two. District entrances were set for voters from each district and five checkers were appointed: Mrs Mary Deriso, James F. Wylie, Luke White, Mrs Mary Moore, and Mrs May Cicciola.

Fourth of July Committee Unveils Plans for Flag and Parade
The 4th of July Committee held its final meeting at the YMCA with about 40 attendees led by Chatman Frankis N Perry. Edward J Fitzge ih announced a 14 division parade featuring 24 loads plus nine units from all services. 17 antique fire engines will also participate. up to 10 floats were planned if entries appear. Fireworks will be set off from Dutley Williams property at Poopasquash Point, with best viewing along the waterfront between State St and the Town Creamery. Fire Chief Oscar Rishe urged traffic control to keep streets open for emergency access, and Ralph H. Tavers presented an American Flag to committee chairmen, noting it would fly at Colt Memorial School with 49 stars in Basee.
