Local Man Exec Officer on Glennon to Visit Town for 4th
Mariano Bucolo executive officer of the USS Glennon, a destroyer visiting this town over the Fourth of July, is a Naval Academy graduate from 1945. Son of Santo and Mrs Bucolo of Beach Road, he served on USS Princeton for 32 years, then returned to the Naval Academy to train midshipmen. He later commanded ships, served aboard USS Black, and held salvage and executive officer posts, including duty in the Panama Canal area and at sea.

With 242 voters in attendance the town meeting approved granting St Marys Church permission to use land on Bristol Common for school purposes by a 241 to 1 vote. The lone opponent was Mrs Vasta L Ruggiero who objected to reading the warrant and to terms in the document. Continuous interruptions occurred as the moderator and town officials read the warrant and debated definitions before the vote.

Wallis E Howe was appointed Honorary Chief Aide to Sen Theodore Francis Green, veteran parade marshal.
