Ardwell House Razed for the Post Office Project
Historic Ardwell House is being demolished to make way for a new post office on the town’s south side. Federal Property Inc plans a six month construction period. the project preserves wrought iron details and Palladian windows while a new structure rises. Also reported are injuries to two youths after a vehicle incident on Church Street. Anthony Dennis III, four, sustained skull injuries and was treated. Judith Almeida, sixteen, injured after a vehicle incident.

The Bristol Community Theatre Group held its first meeting at the YMCA drawing 32 attendees with several more contacting by phone and letter. Herbert Eisenstadt, elected president, expressed strong optimism for reviving community theatre in Bristol noting interest from Barrington and Newport, including Rod Brown of Newport keen on set design.

Police Find Two Boys Set Fire at Casino
Two boys aged 10 and 8 admitted to setting the mattress fire at Colt Casino in Pappasquash last February. Sgt. Joseph Teixeira stated police learned of the vandalism during a routine check this week. Authorities are consulting the boys' parents before further action. The youths reportedly reside in the Pappasquash area.

Driver Escapes Injury in Car Crash
A 17 year old youth from New Bedford narrowly escaped serious injury when a stolen car left Metacoum Ave south of Mit Hoye Ave and crashed into a wooded area west of the highways. He received first aid from Bristol Rescue Squad and was taken to Newport Hospital for observation with slight injuries. State Police reported the incident followed a 9:05 pm call about a stolen car and a roadblock sighting later.

USS Lester To Be Here For Fourth
