Naval Academy Cadets To March in 4th Parade

Cadets from the Naval Academy will lead the 4th of July parade with USS crew members and Ralph H. Lavers chairing a celebration committee. A team of eight brown horses will appear for the new parade feature along with Charley Weaver and Paladin. The four day program begins Saturday with a ball at the National Guard Armory honoring Senator Claiborne PeWeIl and his wife. Fireworks location to be decided. bonfire at town beach.

Glass of '95 BHS Held its Reunion in 1961

Members of the 1895 Bristol High School class gathered Friday at the Crown Hotel Providence Princess Room to mark their 66th reunion. Surviving members Louise Walden of Providence Betsy Duff of Providence Betsy Seiffert of this town attended along with other classmates like Kate Wood Nellie Read Louise Maldron Betsy Duffy and William Hill. They recalled old times and planned next reunion for 1962.

Special Town Meeting Seen Likely Outcome

The town council plans a special session tomorrow night to act on a proposed new zoning map and ordinance. It appears likely the council will place the map and ordinance before taxpayers in a special town meeting with no apparent delay to the zoning issue.

Ancient Units to Parade on July Fourth in Bristol

The Bristol Train of Artillery will host a Fourth of July parade with representations from several ancient chartered commands. Col Mervyn Clay will marshal the parade with aides Capt Paul Bruno and Lt Col William S Baker. Units include Lexington Minute Men wall of eight, National Lancers of Auburndale with six mounted men, Kentish Guards of East Greenwich with eighteen and band, Governors Horse Guards of Hartford as escort, Putnam Phalanx of Hartford with fourteen, Cranston Blues also attending with twenty two. More units may join as replies arrive.

Chief Marshal Names Aides for 4th of July Parade

Clinton J. Pearson, chief marshal of the 4th of July parade, announced the appointments of his deputy chief of staff and his chief aide. H. Sanford Town will be deputy chief of staff and Raymond Faria will serve as chief aide.

Program For Patriotic Exercises Is Announced

The program and list of invited guests for the patriotic exercises before the Fourth of July parade were announced by Mrs Frank L Martin. Governor John A Notte will attend as guest of honor with an honor guard escort. The schedule includes remarks, introductions, readings, musical selections, and brief remarks by state and local officials at Colt Memorial High School in Bristol.
