Teaching Picks Up At Rhode Island University
Admission figures at the University of Rhode Island show a major rise in students choosing teaching careers. The admissions department reports twice as many accepted as freshmen for next year's teacher education program as at the same point last year. Sixty three applications have been accepted and twenty six remain to be processed. Last fall only forty two registered. The university credits higher salaries and publicity about teaching needs for the boost.
