Commencement Exercises Underway at Colt Memorial High

Sixty six graduates will receive diplomas at Colt Memorial High School commencement in the Guiteras auditorium. The class includes 32 college prep, 16 commercial, 11 general, and 17 practical arts students. Principal FitzGerald and Bristol officials participate in awards, addresses, and the Walsh Memorial medal presentations.

Founder of Bristol Lodge F. P. Marchant Dies in Yaphank

Judge Frederick P. Marchant, native of Bristol and longtime Brookhaven official, died in Yaphank at age 74. He helped found the Bristol Odd Fellows Lodge, served on the Brookhaven Town Board, and built estates for prominent clients. He leaves his widow Ada, son Leslie of Yaphank, and sister Mrs Tena R Dunbar.

Rotary Club to Award Achievement Medal at Belvedere Hotel

The Rotary Club will award its Achievement Medal to a Junior High School pupil at tomorrow's noon meeting at Hotel Belvedere. The recipient from Guiteras Memorial School is chosen for improvement in the past school year, not necessarily highest marks. Last year the prize went to Robert Tourigny.

Dwyer Memorial Fourth of July Fund Gains Momentum

Donations from individuals and groups raise the total to 473.31 and a mammoth benefit bridge party is planned at the State Armory next Monday night. Tentative Parade Lineup Announced for Fourth of July

Bristol announces a tentative lineup for the grand military firemen and civic parade with new participants including six Eagles lodges and a variety of veteran and civic groups. The program outlines seven parade divisions and a full day of observances from 3 pm July 3 to 11 pm fireworks.

Hope Circle No 70 Social Welcomes 36 New Members

Hope Circle No 70 entertained 36 new members after a regular meeting in K of C rooms. Topsy turvy whist prizes went to Mrs Ethel Connery and Miss Winifred C Walsh. Refreshments were served by Miss Helen Condon chairwoman and committee. A bingo event was planned for June 27 at the K of C home to aid St Marys Church. A special Hope Circle meeting is set for Thursday in K of C rooms.

Help 4th of July fund whist for girls club benefit

The Dwyer Memorial Fourth of July celebration fund will benefit from a whist event by St. Rita's Girls' Club of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. The parish hall on Congregational street hosts the fundraiser tomorrow night with about 25 tables. Committee includes Emily Delmonico as chairman and Rose DiCianna among others.

Press Club Dinner Hosts Members and Art Tour at Belton Court

The Rhode Island Press Club held its annual event with more than 40 members from across the state dining at Hotel Warren. General Henry D. Hamilton reported on the National Editorial Association trip in New Orleans. Levellon Brown and William D. Murray were elected to membership. Guests, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Peck of West Barrington, hosted at Belton Court to view art collections and enjoy tea. Warren Gazette and Bristol Phoenix were represented by accompanying hosts.

Bride To Be Showered In Town Gathering

More than 100 friends from Warren and Fall River attended a miscellaneous shower for Miss Bridget Abenante hosted by Mrs. Pauline Reposa on Richmond street. The bride elect was showered with confetti and rose petals as games and dancing followed. She will wed Joseph L. O Gara of Fall River at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church on June 29.

Community Beach to Reopen for Public Use Saturday

Bristol officials announce the community beach and playgrounds will reopen this Saturday on Mount Hope Bay after weather delays and road repairs. Lifeguards and ERA police will be on duty, with extended hours from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily and playgrounds from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Lifeguards, attendants, and a boatyard float preparation support the season reopening for local families and visitors.
