Colt Memorial High Prepares For Historic Graduation Milestone
Colt Memorial High School will celebrate the second largest graduating class in its history with about 66 students completing a three year program. Commencement events begin Tuesday with class day exercises in the school auditorium followed by the annual banquet and dance Thursday and a reception that night in the Guneras School auditorium. Donald Lloyd Smith will read the class wit and Ruth Kimaines will deliver the class prophecy with other student speakers. Principal Edward J. Tony Calabro aged 13 of Pawtucket defeated William Alves aged 14 of Bristol County to win the Rhode Island State Marbles Championship at Bristol. Calabro, who had won Pawtucket city title last month, won four of five matches including the final by knocking Alves’ shooter from the ring. Calabro hopes to compete in the National Championship in Ocean City New Jersey in July.
