Special patriotic program at the National India Rubber Company noon today included flag raising at 12 45 P M with bugle call, flag raising, singing of the Star Spangled Banner and America, and patriotic addresses by Major E M Bixby and W J Kent of Providence plus Miss Elsie Nesbit.

Bristol Brown Alumni hosted Ex-Governor Augustus O Bourn at Seven Oaks Tuesday evening. Officers for the year elected include President Augustus O Bourn Vice Presidents Dr W Fred Williams Miss Emma Stanton Secretary Howard R Newman and Treasurer Clinton T Sherman. A buffet luncheon followed with remarks by Rev Dr Faunce William T O'Donnell James F Lavander Thomas H De Coudres and Rear Admiral John R Edwards. Ex Govern Bourn, Brown University Class of 1855, served as governor 1883 to 1885 and later led the National Rubber Company and now heads Bourn Rubber Co of Providence.

Knights of Columbus council meetings read wartime letters

Bristol Council No. 379 heard letters from four members in France including Lieut Col L H Callan and Privates Burns Pierce and Hickey. James W Coogan enlisted in the US Army. The preparedness fund for St Joseph's Hospital was endorsed. Monthly meetings planned for summer and a pool tournament winner to be named next meeting.
