Captain John Nelson West and his wife celebrated 64 years of marriage at their Bristol home with daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren present. Born in 1833 and 1834 respectively, the pair wed in 1854 in New Bedford. They have seven children, six grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Bristol Improvement Association Considers Bath House Policing
The Bris tol Improvement Association met at the Hotel Belvedere with President C B Rockwell Jr presiding. Councilman John H Wall urged a police presence at the public bath house for the coming season and noted new shower baths and toilets to be ready by week’s end. He urged a price scale to fund a supervisor and a special officer, citing past income and costs. Judge Bosworth and Attorney B F Lindemuth were authorized to draft separate acts on sewer changes to be reviewed after the October recess. Ice price discussions also occurred.
