Veterans Urged to Apply for Tax Exemption Deadline

Bertram W Wall of the Veteran Rehabilitation office warns Bristol veterans that June 16 17 and 18 are the final days to apply for the 1000 tax exemption at the Board of Tax Assessors. Rat Extermination Planned At Old Town Dump

A bid for rat extermination at the old town dump was received with a second bid expected today. Councilman Paul A. Herzig said bids would be given immediate attention and work would start on award, taking about three months to complete. The crew would likely visit weekly, and grading should wait until extermination ends to avoid driving rats elsewhere.

Awards Night At YMCA Honors 102 Local Boys

One hundred two boys from grammar to senior high receive certificates at the YMCA Awards Night in Rockwell Hall at 6 p.m. Dr Samuel D Clark will present. Frank O Rene will announce the year's outstanding athlete chosen by the boys and a YMCA committee. The winner is engraved on a plaque donated by Mr Rene. Merchants Seek Clarification On Incoming Sales Tax

Maynard Suzman representing Bristol merchants on Hope street wrote Judge Ed ward L. Leahy asking the state tax department to send a deputy to explain the Rhode Island sales tax coming into operation soon. He said no state literature has been provided to help retailers understand the new tax and invited all affected retailers to attend the town meeting if a rep visits.

Canon Parshley Resigns From School Board

Canon Anthony R. Parshley rector of St. Michael's Episcopal Church told the search committee he must resign from the school board after his recent appointment as Archdeacon of the Episcopal Diocese of Rhode Island.
