Water Company face to face talks on costly plant

State Public Utilities Administrator Kennelly told an informal Bristol County Water Co hearing that approving a 700000 dollar expenditure for one customer would threaten rate hikes. Collins & Aikman argued for private plant spending, noting ample Newport water. officials discussed mediation to resolve the supply request and future capacity plans.

Bristol Chapter DAR held a regular meeting on Franklin Street yesterday afternoon. Mrs Charles R Blackmar Jr Mrs Harry Noble and Mrs Samuel A Hall reported on the 56th Continental Congress. The chapter voted to take part in the Fourth of July parade and donated 5 to the parade fund.

Woodmansee Proposes Water Conference With C A President

Everett S. Woodmansee writes W G McCullough of Collins Aikman Corp New York to arrange a meeting between C A and Bristol County Water Co engineers. He notes demand for 1 500 000 gallons daily and offers RI Industrial Commission conference room in Providence as a meeting site. Annual Boy Scout Powwow at Mount Hope this weekend

A U S S destroyer will anchor off Mount Hope as 3 500 Boy Scouts from Rhode Island and Massachusetts attend the third annual Powwow hosted by the Haffenreffer family Friday through Sunday. The Bristol Indian dance, drum corps concert, and a ceremonial pageant mark the three day event with tours of King Philip sites and the Haffenreffer Museum.

Plans Completed For Wm. F. Head Testimonial

Plans were finalized for a June 23 testimonial banquet honoring William F. Head of the R. I. Fife Drum and Bugle Corps Association at Kearney Post Home. Bristol groups and various organizations pledged support, with Chief Justice Jeremiah E. O Connell as speaker and Daniel W. Coggeshall as toastmaster. Man Injured In Collision In Fall River

Antone Mattos 21 suffered concussion left hand fractures and multiple wounds after a truck turning from Wood Street into Bradford collided with his motorcycle. Dr Samuel D Clark treated him at the scene and he was rushed to Truesdale Hospital as his condition was listed not so good. Driver Nicholas Paradiso 22 of Swansea remained at the scene.

August Bus Line Seeks Schedule Change

The August Bus Lines seeks state approval to modify routes and schedules including terminating at Hampden Meadows, eliminating side trips to Bristol Narrows and Harris Heights, adjusting times from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. with Sunday variations, and new fare steps across several segments amid local resident opposition and a public hearing Friday at 10 a.m. in Providence.

Support Urged for Fourth of July Celebration Funds

Regina Farley, chair of the Special Gifts Committee, says donations are slower than last year and urges immediate dollar contributions to fund the Fourth of July celebration. She warns that without support, a sunny parade and program may not materialize and asks donors to return stamped envelopes.

Bristol Women's Club Holds Final Rockwell Hall Meeting

At the Bristol Women's Club final meeting in Rockwell Hall YMCA 140 members were announced. A May 22 raffle netted 246.65 funding a hospital bed for the Bristol District Nursing Association with the rest for charitable purposes. Mrs Nathaniel A Gladding Jr gave a history of the club foundation. Officers to remain through June 1948 were approved. Movies Wings Over Latin America Mexican Moods followed. Refreshments served by several hostesses.

Four West Barrington Men Fined for Tavern Rumpus

Four West Barrington men were arrested at the Town Tavern Bristol at 12 45 am after creating a rumpus. Paul Champagne Emil Adams Eugene Flynn and John C Blanchard all of Leslie avenue West Barrington pleaded guilty to revelling and were fined 10 dollars plus costs.
