Bristol figures show town owned equipment used 3059 gallons of gasoline from January through May, a 35 percent saving from 1942. Highway and sewer departments report 50 percent savings while police and fire use rose due to wartime needs. Russian War Relief selects date and HQ for clothing drive
The Bristol Branch RTI Russian War Relief Committee set a six day campaign starting June 22 with headquarters at Hope Street store previously Hopkins Electric. Volunteers will staff 10am to 4pm first four days and until 9pm Friday and Saturday. Items needed include overcoats sweaters suits dresses trousers skirts underwear stockings gloves scarves hats and shoes.
