Valuable papers and gasoline coupons stolen Sunday May 30 from the War Price and Rationing Board office were found along Colt Drive on Poppa squash. Some gasoline ration books remain missing as police continue investigations.
Justiniano D Freitas of 243 State Street was found guilty of assault on Guiseppe Cicero of Usher Avenue on May 20. Judge William T. O'Donnell fined him $15 and costs after Cicero testified he was shoved and knocked down near US Rubber Company during a strike. Town Solicitor Lucien Capone prosecuted. D Freitas represented himself and pleaded not guilty.
Michael D'Anneco was admitted to Kearney Post No 6 American Legion at its regular meeting. He is the second World War II veteran to join. Members approved participation in the Fourth of July parade. Delegates' report from the Second District convention in Newport was shared. The Callan Committee sought memorial ideas for Brig Gen Luke H Callan for Friday's meeting.
Instruction urges households to calculate how far beyond ten percent of income they can contribute to War Bonds each payday. It emphasizes one in two families has at least two workers and asks readers to figure the amount themselves.
Bristol schools collect clean clothing and shoes for British and refugee children in Great Britain. Thirty five girls and 38 boys received their first Holy Communion at the 8 am mass led by Rev Henrique Rocha. Five Bristol servicemen from the area appeared on the Stars and Stripes in England program heard Sunday night over WEAN at 11 30. The transcription included part of the Bristol England flag presentation ceremony on April 24 and featured Pfc Edward A Estrella Pvt Jacob Osofski Pfc Anthony Pirri Pvt Samuel Proto and Pfc Edward Bernard. Families gathered around radios to hear their voices with evident pride and emotion as the broadcast carried their messages across the ocean.

The class of 1943 at St Mars's School received Holy Communion at the 7 o'clock mass on Saturday. Afterward a communion breakfast was served by the Sisters in the confuent garden. Rev Michael I Ryan, pastor, was the guest of honor.
Frank B. Walker assistant superintendent of the First Baptist Church School received a bullet proof brass bound New Testament from the Young People's Baptist Training Union as appreciation for his leadership Ruth Alger Union president presented it. Walker left for induction into the US Army in Miami Florida with his wife and child. At the morning service Rev Arthur W Burdon gave Mr Walker a pen on behalf of church members.
A June 9 meeting at 230 p m in the Rhode Island School of Design Auditorium Providence will present a final review of the Controlled Materials Plan CMP. Sponsored by the Providence Chamber of Commerce the session will outline the plan and include a Q and A period. James O Dolan states that from July 1 almost all area manufacturers will operate under the CMP.

The Callan Memorial Committee will hold a preliminary Friday evening session at the Memorial Committee chairman A A Fadmonds 471 Hope Street to discuss selecting a memorial for Brig Gen Luke H Callan The committee includes Rotary Club Kearney Post No 6 American Legion Bristol Council Knights of Columbus and charter member Gen Callan Representatives named from each group include Edmonds Rev A R Parshley Brig Gen Samuel A Hall James McKenna John S Mello Joseph M Edmons Bertram W Wall Samuel J Smith A Elmer McNamara and others
The final session of St Michael's Church School was held Sunday at 9 30 with Rev A R Parshley in charge. Diplomas were awarded to Senior Class graduates Barbara Butt Mary Rodgers Pinch and Elizabeth Wood. Mary Pinch received a Bible for outstanding leadership and faithful service. Junior and Senior choirs performed and Parshley spoke on the school’s purpose and challenges.
Providence Chapter reports a staging goal of 1 189 660 dressings to be completed before August while Bristol aims for 36 000. The warm weather brings outdoor distractions and workers are urged to join a machine stitched dressings effort and contact headquarters at 702 Hope Street by telephone 266 W.
Colt Memorials baseball team hosts Barrington this afternoon at Guiteras Field. The game was moved up from June 15 and starts at 3 15. A game with Rogers High follows Friday at Newport school field. Playoff dates to be announced later.
