Bristol County Camera Club Annual Show Tonight

The third annual photographic salon of the Bristol County Camera Club will exhibit about 50 prints judged at 8 tonight at Guiteras House High Street. Leo Sevigny president said Haymond Ball of the Providence Bulletin and Journal will judge. Public invited free. about two dozen best photos to be displayed in county store windows.

Identification Cards Issued to Civil Defense Personnel

Admiral Gilbert C Hoover announced that identification cards have been issued to all key Civil Defense personnel and that each will take an oath of office. All CD workers entering service will receive a card and be sworn in. A Boy Scout group under Howard House has begun cleaning the Burnside Memorial Building CD HQ, from which sirens will be sounded in case of attack.

Camp Yawgoog Adopts New Feeding System

Camp Yawgoog in Narragansett Bay opens its 36th season on June 25 for eight weeks. The camp introduces the Slater System feeding service, described as the largest industrial and college food service in the country. Slater System fed the National Jamboree at Valley Forge last summer and served 1,000 meals per sitting.

Fourth of July Drive Aims to Fund 175th Independence Day

The Bristol Fourth of July committee will canvass the town this week to raise funds for the 175th anniversary of Independence Day. The finance sub committee meets tonight at the YMCA to finalize plans, and the entire town will be contacted by letter or in person by committee members led by Clinton H. Springer.

Police Chief Seeks Taxi Driver License Revocation

Police Chief Anthony J. Fer rara called for the license revocation of Louis J Gamelin 38 of 2 State street after he was fined 25 dollars plus costs for reckless driving. Gamelin was jailed Friday night and appeared before Judge James B Linehan in district court after his cab struck a utility pole on 64 Church street. The chief said he could not reach a physician to assess whether Gamelin was fit to drive and stated the driver was intoxicated.

Corporal John F. Maisano returns to Camp Atterbury Indiana Sunday night after an eight day furlough. He serves with the 175th Military Police Battalion and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Salvatore Maisano of Washington Street.

Howe Receives Honorary Degree from Brown University

Mark Antony DeWolf Howe of this town, famed author and Pulitzer winner, was awarded an honorary Doctor of Letters at Brown University during the 183rd commencement. President Henry M. Local Delegates Explain Votes as GOP and Democrats Remain Split

Bristol Boy Scout Bugle and Drum Corps Win At Danbury

The Bristol Boy Scout Bugle and Drum Corps competed in Danbury Connecticut under Hudson Valley Drum Corps Association rules and won three first prizes despite only 23 members. They travelled 151 miles by private cars due to a broken bus and finished first for best appearing marching corps and travelling farthest. Norman Toste won best junior drum major. The group was short handed because many members worked on Saturday and others served with a National Guard unit. They parade in Bristol during Firemen Memorial exercises and compete in Northbridge Massachusetts on Sunday.

Closing Exercises At Colt Memorial High Begin June 20

Final ceremonies announced by Principal John L Burke for Colt Memorial senior high begin Wednesday June 20 at 2 p.m. with Class Day in Andrews Memorial gym. A class banquet and dance follow at 7 p.m. Bedtime events continue Thursday June 21 with graduation in Andrews gym and a reception at Colt auditorium. St Columban's New Dormitory Is Dedicated
