Veterans stage a probing, equipment rich display titled Here’s Your Infantry at Burrs Hill Park on the war’s anniversary. The exhibit features rifles, mortars, bazookas, mines, detectors, communications gear, and a sand table to show mortar aiming. Fourth of July Parade Aid Sought From Governor and Congress
The Fourth of July Committee in Burnside Memorial Building voted to ask Gov. Howard McGrath and state congressmen for help securing large contingents of soldiers sailors and Marines for the parade. With only 65 dollars donated, organizers plan a war bond rally on the 4th and seek participation from the Bristol Historical Society 40 and 8 Voitures American Legion WAC recruiting group and Warren Rhodies. The Newport Naval Training Station will supply a band color guard sailors wave drill and drum corps and waves with a PT boat possibly on display for public viewing.
