Nearly 90 Entries For Annual Yacht Club Regatta

The Bristol Yacht Club anticipates nearly 90 entries for its annual regatta on Saturday August 8 under committee head Francois L deWolf. Larger boats will start at the club sail to Newport finish, allowing them to race off Newport the next day under the Narragansett Bay Regatta Association and Ida Lewis Yacht Club sponsorship.

Excelsior Club Wins Fourth Straight Tennis Match

Excelsior Tennis Club remains top of the Denser League after a 4 1 road win at Pawtucket over Oak Hill. O G Boynton and Alden Estes won singles, while Nelson–Boynton and Estes–Kranz captured doubles. The team leads with four straight wins and faces Fall River and New Bedford next. The county championship starts August eighth with entries from men and women and a junior cup sponsored by C B Rockwell Jr.

Dog Attacks Girl During Feeding Incident

Lenora Cabral eight suffered severe lacerations to both arms and hands when the family dog attacked her as she fed it Friday afternoon. The father Joseph Cabral killed the dog to stop further harm. Medical Examiner Dr John R Bernardo treated her injuries. The dog’s head will be sent to the State Board of Health for rabies examination.

Bristol Lions Table Beach Project and Fall Plans

The Bristol Lions Club tabled indefinitely the bathing beach project presented by James T. Pierce. A joint dam bake with Newport Lions was proposed. committees were formed for August events and a busy slate of committee appointments for the year was announced. Dr Callery named captain of the bowling team to secure fall and winter matches.

Annual Rotary Outing Set For Bristol Tomorrow

The Bristol Rotary Club plans its second annual outing at Hopeworth grounds tomorrow afternoon. Members and guests depart from the Hotel Belvedere at 12 30 with chowder served at 1 00. A sports program will entertain, and a bake by Olver Perron of Warren will be served at 5 00. The committee expresses pleasure at securing the Hopeworth grounds.

The Rhode Island State Aerie of the Fraternal Order of Eagles held its annual convention in Bristol with national and state leaders, civic officials, and delegates from Connecticut and Massachusetts.
